Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get matched to jobs?
Sometimes employers are looking for certain education or certifications, other times they are looking for people willing to work certain shifts and sometimes they are looking for fluency in certain languages. It all depends. Rest assured that the more complete your Talentbase account, the more likely you are to get matched with open job opportunities.
What is the "status" column on the job applications?
When employers move you through their hiring process for particular jobs, you will notice that the status on the job opportunity will change. For example, if the employer has invited you to take a video interview, you will notice that the status is "Video interview invite".
Who can see my profile?
Private information like ethnicity, gender, salary, criminal history, etc. will never be seen by anyone besides yourself.
The other information on your profile will be visible to employers who have expressed interest in you as a job candidate. For those of you that have been introduced to Talentbase through the career services department at your school, the school’s career counselors may also be able to see the unrestricted portion of your profile as well.
What if I don't have a webcam to take a video interview?
It is recommended that you find a computer with a webcam to take the interview; however, if you are unable to do so, you can proceed to do an “audio only” interview.
How do I apply for jobs?
The beauty of Talentbase is that you don’t need to worry about applying to jobs because Talentbase finds the employers that are the best match for you.
How do I change my name, email or password?
In the top right hand corner of the website, click on the drop down box that shows your name and then click on “My Account”.
What is the difference between a regular video interview question and a general video question?
Every candidate inside Talentbase gets to respond the three standard general video questions. You can record a response to these questions as many times as you like.
With regular video interview question, you need to be invited to take the interview by an employer. You will probably be asked different questions by each employer. Another big difference is that you cannot re-record a response with regular video interview questions; you only get a little bit of time to prepare and then you live with your answer...just like a real interview!
How do I change my profile picture?
When you move your cursor over the current picture (or over the placeholder if no profile pic has already been uploaded), you should see a link that lets you change your pic.
How do I delete or edit a skill, certification, degree or work history?
Just click on any entry in the Skills, Certifications, Education or Work History sections and you will be able to edit inline. If you hover over any entry, you will also notice that at the end of the row, a “delete” link appears which will allow you to remove an entire entry.
What if I want to add something that isn’t already in one of your lists?
We have built lists to help you find what’s already in our system, but if we don’t have something the system won’t keep you from adding it. Feel free to add any skill, certification, field of study, school, employer, job title that isn’t already in the system.
How much time do I get to prepare for and answer a video interview question?
Normally, you will have at least 5 seconds to read the interview question and prepare a response. The time that you will have to respond ranges depending on the interview question but it will be prominently displayed.
How will my contact information be used?
You can adjust the settings of who can contact you (and how often) by going to the top right hand corner of the website, clicking on the drop down box that shows your name and then clicking on “My Account”. You can choose to be contacted when you qualify for new job openings, when you are invited to interviews, etc. You’re information will not be shared with anyone without your permission.
How do I delete my account?
